Burning Passion for a Magical Game of Quidditch - By Jade Chan
Meet Malaysia’s Quidditch Team - By Terrence Toh
Today really felt like Christmas to us.
Charmaine called me first thing in the morning and asked with sheer excitement, “Did you see it? Did you see it?”. She was probably the first one to see the article. I got out of bed and flipped the pages of The Star Metro and saw 2 full pages dedicated to our quidditch team written by Jade Chan. She’s a great writer and such a nice person!
But then I had to go get ready for work. As I dragged my feet I thought to myself, “if only I could just play quidditch, manage my team, and get paid”. I guess I’m not one of those lucky ones who enjoys their job.
In the afternoon, Terrence Toh of Poskod.my messaged me on Facebook saying that they too decided to publish their online article of the Damansara Dementors today! I was elated! Terrence joined us for a game of quidditch once during a CultureRun get-together. His article is hilarious!

I’ve encountered this a few times during training and have been wondering. QUIDKIDS! Please help me out if you can :)
Here is a handy guide on how quidditch works! (x)
MUGGLE QUIDDITCH in MALAYSIA:
We’ve never been able to play a full game of quidditch yet (with seekers and a snitch) so this may probably be Malaysia’s first FULL quidditch game!
Malaysian quidditch team, The Damansara Dementors released a new (but still very similar) logo recently because the previous one was a combination of 2 images from the Internet.
Even though the older one wasn’t blatantly copied and pasted, we still felt that we needed to redo it from scratch to avoid any possible copyright infringements.
I’ve got the pdf of the rule book, I’m looking at resources for equipment, and I’m looking at how best to construct the goals. (Pvc pipe+Hula hoop+ Weighted wooden frame with foam coating maybe? then paint it all grey or black?)
Hey! I used PVC pipe for everything, except the hoops of course. You’ll need lots of duct tape, pipe glue (or super glue) and unfortunately money :( But there’s no one way of going about this. If you can find a cheaper alternative then go ahead!
QUIDDITCH HAS ARRIVED IN MALAYSIA!
COME JOIN THE DAMANSARA DEMENTORS QUIDDITCH TEAM!
I used to play for Murdoch University’s Murdoch Mandrakes and the Perth Phoenixes (WAQA). Trying to set a team up. Hope people come play with me :)
